Is your vehicle having problems starting?

It could be a sign your spark plugs need to be replaced.
Here are 3 easy ways to diagnose the problem:
- Engine misfiring
-Slow start up and acceleration
- Poor gas mileage
Spark plugs need to be replaced around 100,000 miles. If you ignore your spark plugs you will start to have problems with your catalytic converter or you could even damage your engine. It is very important that you fix this issue before hand otherwise it will become an over whelming problem to fix.

Thrown Connecting Rod

Driving around with the check engine light on?

Prior to this catastrophic engine failure the check engine light on this vehicle was illuminated. A code for the catalyst efficiency (PO420) was found when hooked up to our Snap-On scan tool. This code tells us that there is a problem located in the catalyst that needs to be addressed. However the check engine light was ignored and the vehicle was driven until the connecting rod was thrown through the block and engine seized.

Why did this happen?

As catalytic converters age and become less efficient, the honeycomb comprised of platinum, pendulum, gold and silver start to break apart into a fine metal dust. On this particular vehicle the catalytic converters are mounted directly to the cylinder head as the converters started to break apart the engine. Backpressure sucked this metal substance back into the engines exhaust valves and ended up into the intake, cylinder walls, and lower crank case thus rendering the engine inoperable.
